The story of Mile High Comics  #

Discovery of the Original Mile High Collection is a multi-part story (originally published as a column) on the beginnings of Mile High Comics, including the discovery of Edgar Church's collection of Golden Age comics.

The vivid descriptions of collector emotions on walking into the basement to discover piles and piles of amazing collectables had memories of 90's record collector fairs flooding back.

Even more interesting the discussion of how this collection paved the way to the collectable comics market, and the realities of selling collectables in the age before cheap publishing.

The final column shows just how much the internet has changed the collectable markets. It saved Mile High Comics, but I can't help but feel it killed so many of the interesting parts of collecting, including the collectables fair...

Faith No More The Real Thing 20th Anniversary edition  #

Released in 1989, next year would be the perfect time for a 20th Anniversary edition of one of the most influential albums of the 80s/90s cross-over, Faith No More's "The Real Thing".

What could they do?

  • Remaster? (turn it up all loud and stuff, ruining it)
  • Add unreleased and rare tracks (are there any?)
  • Add demo tracks (are there any worth hearing?)
  • Bonus DVD with the videos and "making of" doco

Would this be a legal mine field? Who owns the distribution rights? Rhino seems to, but the only have "Introduce Yourself" and the "This Is It" best of on their website.

The big question is, would anyone (besides me) buy it?

Cold dog  #

It's hard to believe on a 40 degree day that only a couple of nights ago the dog thought it was cold enough to wrap herself up in her blanket with just her head sticking out....
