Metallica tribute albums do have a purpose.

They teach us that those guitar solos are really hard to play, because it seems Kirk only nailed it just that once on the record, and not even Dream Theatre can duplicate them.

They teach us that maybe Lars can really play... or at least, he nailed it that once on the record and no-one else can.

They teach us that in the 80s, James had an absolutely killer high voice that not one single other human being can get close to.

They serve to remind us of what we've lost.

And yet remind us of what we had, and may still have again...
