Waiting for nothing  #

I spent four hours this morning waiting for the gas meter reader guy to turn up, and he isn't coming until tomorrow.

Nice of someone to tell me that.

Our core gas supplier has the worst customer service in the history of the universe. Even worse than dodgy electronics company.

Their complaint line just rings out...

They deliberately massively over estimate or underestimate our gas usage because they can't get into our backyard. Then when you order an actual reading they won't give a time or an exact day.

So here I am, now having two days off just to get the frigging meter read.

And they're not nice days off. They're days off waiting at the door in case someone shows up, at any time between 8am and 6pm, because if you miss them ring the door bell (assuming they bother) you have to go through the whole thing again...

That's why we're changing gas companies. We can't change the main supplier, but we can change to a billing company that will let us correct estimates over the phone, which our current supplier will no longer do.

Two days off... fuming!

I'm perfectly happy to pay for better service. I'll pay a plumber to read it, and put up with the $50 fee he'd probably charge me, just to get an actual time I can expect them to show up.

But no...
