It's kinda like Ghostbusters, only with more characters and a less coherent plot. It's kinda like The Fifth Element only with more characters and a less coherent plot. It wants to be Phillip K Dick, only it has more characters and a less coherent plot.
At the beginning it's like watching "The Second Renaissance, Parts I and II" from The Animatrix only with far less cool effects, but it gets better...
"That was deliberately weird..."
You could call it the Director's Director's Cut of the screenplay of Donnie Darko. You could say it's potentially a demonstration of why a Grant Morrison comic wouldn't make a good movie, as much as you might think it would.
Hey! Janeane Garofalo on screen for a quarter of a second for no reason whatsoever!! That guy from Better Off Dead. And that OTHER guy from Better Off Dead. And Christopher Lambert. And a million other out of work actors... working. Sarah Michelle Gellar as a porn star. Seann William Scott and Justin Timberlake acting... well. The Rock!
I really enjoyed watching it. I don't know why.
