Sir Ian McKellen and Jim Caviezel are set to star in the ITV remake of the 1960s TV cult show The Prisoner.[via The Null Device]
Last I heard this had been cancelled, but it looks like it's a go.
Six part series.
One of my favourite things about British TV is it's short series.
Children Of Bodom, "Blooddrunk"
Very disappointed in this, their new CD. Although I'm not surprised as I've gone off their last few as well. It felt heavier than the last one which I approved of, although I felt it lacked some of the melody that appealed to me previously. It all felt a bit flat. I think they're coming to Australia soon, I still think they'd be fun to see live.
Weezer, "Weezer" (Red Album)
I loved this CD, although some of the shine has come off it. I love it's reflective themes (leading some to compare it to their second album Pinkerton although I completely disagree) and huge choruses. A lot of people have talked up "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)" but it seems very contrived. Perhaps it's good as a study in changing musical styles every few seconds, but as a song, it's hard to sit through. I absolutely adore "Heart Songs" and thoroughly enjoy "Everybody Get Dangerous" and "Troublemaker" despite the embarrassing "Boo-yah". The cover of "The Weight" is a bizarre choice but strangely fits and is an excellent album closer. I really like the mix, the bass/kick are strong and upfront, even on my rubbish MP3 player. I've been missing good hard edged mixes in rock albums lately.
I like what Rick Rubin has done (production wise) to Weezer. It gives me much hope for the new Metallica album...
