I get it. It's "cheap" to move the gas meter (about $230) but expensive to reconnect your house up to it again in it's new location (about $600). Particularly as it's moving out the front of the house and the new pipe would need to go around the garage, where there isn't much room.
Dang it. Still, it's not $2000 like I thought it might be.
It's not so much the money, it's the thought of trying to get two sets of plumbers around my house at the same time. Or more accurately, one to turn up about three hours after the other one.
