Faith No More reunion  #

I swear that the "Faith No More reunion" rumour hits the web at least once every three years or so, so I've dutifully ignored the latest one, particularly as it includes a quote from Bill Gould officially killing the idea.

But, let's say it did happen...

It would be a good opportunity to:

  • Play "Smaller and Smaller" or "Star A.D." for the first time ever.
  • Celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Real Thing's release.
  • Record something new.
  • Support the release of a rarities and B-Sides CD.

If anything, I would not expect anything more than a live greatest hits tour, possibly with a live DVD arriving at the end of it. I'm reasonably sure the band is free of any record company contracts.

I'm loath to add credence to what could very well nothing, but to speculate for the sake of sanity (and I promise you this is just speculation, I know nothing)...

The official Patton line on the reunion is that he doesn't want to, but every now and then someone arrives with a suitcase full of cash that makes it hard to say no.

LiveNation has been throwing a lot of cash around lately...

Further, early in the year Patton caused a brief stir by saying about the possibility of a reunion that "I wouldn't rule it out. I don't think we would need to reform the band, but maybe there's other things we can do together."

"Other things" could mean a live tour. Getting the band back together infers recordings and albums. "Something" could just mean doing some gigs...

Metallica's 'All Nightmare Long' video  #

Metallica's "All Nightmare Long" in video form.

I can't watch it at work, but the description (stolen from Rolling Stone) does sound awesome:

[...] the video tells the story of a strange spore that falls to Earth that first heals wounds and revives dead pets but eventually leads to a zombie takeover in the former USSR. It's like Planet Terror wrapped into ten minutes without the terrible ending and Quentin Tarantino cameo.
