It's so weirdly normal...

The new computer is ordered. It will be a few weeks for them to put it together due to an "incredible number of orders recently."

All trying to beat the advertised "30% price rise" expected in electronics due to the weaker Aussie dollar?

The new computer has 4 times the RAM, 10 times the hard disk space, twice the CPU cores, 5 more monitor inches, and 100% more LCD than my current computer. It also has onboard firewire and ethernet, freeing up two PCI slots.

It also supports DirectX9 so finally, a year after a friend bought them for me, I'll be able to play Portal and Half Life 2.

The only hardware I expect to make the transition will be my MAudio Audiophile PCI soundcard and my keyboard and mouse.

The next challenge will be transferring all the software, including various bought software and DRM soaked iTunes tracks. I'll probably post about how difficult that is...
