I hate reading from a computer screen. This has gotten worse over the years, especially the last few, with the increased use of LCD screens.

I can't decide if my habit of skimming the words on the screen rather than reading them is the fault of the lack of clarity of the text, or a reaction to data-overload thanks to RSS feeds.

I like writing (physically, with a good pen). I have a near romantic attachment to a well written neat sentence on a piece of clean white lined paper.

However, writing is too slow. And it hurts. I've been well and truly seduced by the ease and speed of typing. I like spell-check, I like searchable archives. I love the idea of digital content and all that comes with it.

I collect real books. Old books. The kind of books that barely exist any more. I still prefer to read a book or a newspaper or a printed sheet over a blog.

Yet I read blogs and the web most because it's infinitely easier.

I am constantly fighting myself.

I like reality, I like the digital world.

I feel the need for a netbook/laptop with two screens. One normal LCD computer screen for navigation and general work, and one ultra readable paper-like screen as seen on eBook readers.

Or the need to read less on-screen.
