I've seen The Whitlams twice, once on 13th February 1998 @ The Corner Hotel and once shortly after at Monash Uni on the 27th March 1998.
The Monash show was fantastic with three encores from memory. Tim wore some crazy fluro fury pants.
Around this time the band were playing mostly Eternal Nightcap tracks, with a greatest hits of their past albums, trying out a few new songs (I remember Time) and a few covers like Never Fall In Love Again and the alternate lyric Dodi At The Ritz and Come On Pauline.
Personally I don't think they've ever been better than they were then.
I'd go to this thing... if it wasn't at The Corner.
Less than 20% of the album purchases were downloads. People still like CDs, but I'm surprised at 1/5 purchasing downloads.
In total, fans bought twice as many "singles" as they did "albums". I don't know if there is any crossover between the single charts and the album chart.
All of the single purchases were downloads, with "Thriller" the most popular.
Personally I recommend "Wanna Be Starting Something":
You're a vegetable, you're a vegetable. Still they hate you, you're a vegetable. You're just a buffet, you're a vegetable. They eat off of you, you're a vegetable..
But what I don't get, is if you like his music... why didn't you already have his CDs?
