I've been meaning to review CDs here for ages, but life and work have got in the way. Enthusiasm peaks on the train, then dies when I get to work and get distracted to the very core of my soul.
I could be one of those train laptop (or worse, iPhone) wankers if I wanted. I don't.
The high Aussie dollar has meant a few Amazon purchases... so I'm covered in bits of plastic I'd like to talk about. I'm not. I have all sorts of rubbish I could talk about. It is more lifejournal though. I'm horrified even at myself.
I stupidly subscribed to Empire magazine, hoping it would get us excited to go see some movies. It did. Now the list of movies I want to see is longer, the number of movies watched is the same. Subscription lapsed.
Must go see Red.
I also subscribed to Classic Rock magazine. I like it, the articles are usually brilliant. I will resubscribe. Unfortunately the cover CDs are almost always dull. I much prefer the Metal Hammer cover CDs. MH's articles are also usually great. Unfortunately they're surrounded by some very 90s metal ideals: tatts, stupid photos. It's very hard to read on the train. It's bad enough I'm reading a magazine. Stephen Colbert would laugh and laugh.
One of the thousands of things I waste my time doing is going through the magazines with YouTube, actually listening to music being reviewed. I've bought tens of CDs this way. I could completely skip the magazine thing if I wanted and just use the Classic Rock website and YouTube, but somehow I need that glossy.
Now I have a big pile of old magazines the idiot collector in my won't throw out.
To think this whole magazine thing started only last year because I was bored waiting for lunch in Mornington and saw Empire on the shelf with a Back To The Future poster in it...
This year has melted past. I've been in a daze. I think I've woken up... we'll see. I don't know if I like it. Might go prey to St. John's Wart.
