Free Information clarification
A reader wrote in a few days ago a little irate at my comments Friday, September 8, 2000. I posted a link to a story about how users of the internet wanted information to be free.. The article goes on to say that information isn't free, get over it.

I ranted that information should be free, always had been until people decided they could make money from it. I said witholding information could been seen a selfish and so forth.

The reader claimed that to stick by my rant I should give out my address, phone number, credit card number, tax file number (social security etc.).

I suppose taking my rant out of context you could claim this, however, I am talking about copyright and what copyright has become. I'm talking about music, stories, news and soforth. Addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers are private information NOT COVERED under copyright.

My issue is with copyright and the withholding of information for payment.

I rant a lot. Sometimes I speak before thinking. I like to think it's obvious what I'm talking about, what I have a problem with, but sometimes in my haste to complain, it does not come across. For this I'm sorry.

Don't let this discourage feedback though. A lot of people are reading my log. Tell me what you think!.

Going away soon
I am going away to San Fransisco on the 23rd September (this Saturday). It is fairly unlikely I'll be able to update my log during the week I stay there. Meanwhile, email me.
