Setlist revealed via silentuproar. I don't think the setlist has any obvious spoilers, you know, like "Megatron's love theme" or anything. Although "Retina and the Sky" has me thinking...

01. Linkin Park - What I've Done
02. Smashing Pumpkins - Doomsday Clock
03. Disturbed - This Moment
04. Goo Goo Dolls - Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme)
05. The Used - Pretty Handsome Akward
06. HIM - Passion's Killing Floor
07. Taking Back Sunday - What It Feels Like to Be a Ghost
08. Styles of Beyond - Second to None
09. Armor for Sleep - End of the World
10. Idiot Pilot - Retina and the Sky
11. Julien-K - Technical Difficulties
12. Mutemath - Transformers Theme

Transformers = Alternative metal pop.

I'm looking forward to hearing a new version of the Transformers Theme, which I'm guessing will be in the credits.

I really didn't think much of Sneaky Sound System when I saw them support the Scissor Sisters but I did think the female singer was at least technically excellent. I've also grown to like their song UFO.

Recently we were watching an interview with them and something clicked, the female singer, Connie Mitchell, reminded us a lot of the singer of Primary, that Caligula spin-off band.

Turns out, according to Wikipedia, they're the same person, which certain explains the resemblance.

I really must dig up some Primary.

Broadband 2  #

After a friendly email, I thought I needed an update to my broadband as an election issue rant...

It was partly a joke, and partly a way of venting about my work, which at the moment is pushing hard for computerisation of processes that simply require face to face communication. In the particular case at work the requirement is by law.

Sometimes things are hard to do because they're hard to do, not because we haven't computerised them yet. Computerisation will just change the interface and shift some of the cost to the IT department.

Computers are good at adding numbers, storing data and communication of that data. Not much else...

But in particular reference to my original post, I still think the formal structure of parliament suits telecommunication pretty well. A member of parliament stands, gives a formal speech and receives a formal answer. There is no real two-way communication, if you ignore the monkey calls from the back-bench.

But there is a massive symbolic gesture in having so many elected officials in the one place debating issues. It's something that is difficult to explain until you take it away and notice the hole.

I often question why so many people travel between the capital cities each day when surely a phonecall will do? But people are people, and I see it day in and out.

Nothing truely Happens (with a capital aych) until you sit down at a table with someone and talk about it, shake hands, smile. I don't think we'll ever replace that.

Safari on PC  #

Oh great, another bloody web browser with it's own special bugs to work around. Apple announces Safari on the PC [SMH].

Apple claims it's "faster" than all other browsers. I like their claim that "if it works in Safari, it'll work on the iPhone." That's how everything should be.
