I'll keep you posted but in all likelihood the blog will go down for a while next month while I try to move.
On 2nd Oct 2006 I announced the end of the band that only two months before I had described as "still cling[ing] to life like some kind of persistent musical mold."
To be completely honest the band really ended at the end of that last gig at the Espy on 18th Dec 2004. We knew it, you can see it in our faces in the interview conducted with Channel 31 just after leaving the stage. Heath even said on stage that it would probably be our last gig.
It took over two years before anything resembling a band played in public again, but even that was a hastily pulled together bunch of people playing the only songs we had that were close to finished. I really like one of the songs we did ("Seasons"), the rest "need work". Work they'll never get.
When cleaning up the study ("the nerd room") at home I seriously contemplated putting the amp in the garage.
That, my friends, is the real end of an era. An era that began in 1996 with my embarrassing little Approximate tape.
But the thing with art is that it floats around in your head forever until you release it. I have a number of riffs I want to record. They'll remain stuck in there until I do.
How that eventually happens I don't know.
